Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
