Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
