Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
