NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
