Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While gambling on internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
