Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors around the world. While gambling on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
